About Balqa

Balqa Governorate is located in the western part of the Kingdom. Its boundaries in the north is reaching to Irbid, Jerash, and Ajloun governorates, the River of Jordan and the Dead Sea to the west, Madaba Governorate and the Dead Sea to the south, and Amman and Zarqa governorates to the east. Accordingly, Balqa Governorate is having a middle location among the Kingdom’s governorates, where the Governorate’s center is (29) km far from the Capital Amman.

Balqa Governorate is characterized by the diversity of its climate and terrains, where the Ghour region reaches 224 m below sea level, and its highest mountain reaches 1130 m. The high regions are having a rainy and cold climate in winter and moderate in summer. The annual precipitation in the high regions is (600) mm. The low land (Al-Ghour) climate is characterized by being moderate in winter with high temperature in summer, and the annual precipitation ranges between 150 – 200 mm. All that adds to the Governorate a relative agricultural advantage that helps in cultivating various plantations all round the year. All is achieved due to the availability of the farming conditions of agricultural capabilities, practical agricultural experiences, sufficient water, and fertile land, mainly at the Mid-Ghour region.
